Tram 19 Service to Pasing Temporarily Resumes Before New Construction Closure
Good news for tram users in Munich’s west: Starting Monday, April 28, Tram 19 and the NightTram N19 will temporarily resume service to Pasing, as construction work on the new U-Bahn station Am Knie hits a major milestone. This means that the replacement buses previously servicing this route can be paused for now, offering more convenient and faster connections for daily commuters.
🚋 Why Was the Tram to Pasing Suspended?
The section between Willibaldplatz and Pasing had been closed since July 2024 due to the construction of the new U-Bahn station “Am Knie.” During this period, tram tracks were relocated to the east side of Am Knie street. With this relocation now complete, trams can run again on the newly laid tracks—at least temporarily.
This allows the Department of Construction to start building the western half of the future U-Bahn station. Once the full structure is in place, the tracks will be moved back to their original position.
⚠️ What Happens Next: Another Suspension from June
This return of service is short-lived. Beginning Monday, June 2, the MVG will once again replace Tram 19 and NightTram N19 with buses in the section between Lautensackstraße and Pasing.
This interruption is necessary for several coordinated infrastructure projects, including:
- Construction of a track crossing at Fürstenrieder Straße / Agnes-Bernauer-Straße
- Installation of overhead lines
- Track renovations along Line 19
These works are part of the broader Tram-Westtangente expansion and are expected to continue until August 31.
