in the last weekThe best part of the visit was the decoration. Has a great retro/vintage tiki bar vibe. I would suggest to just go in and look and then leave. The Food - The bao buns were best thing we had. The barbecue ribeye was flavorless (even with the sauce) and the veggies came out lukewarm (they kind of tasted like frozen veggies heated in a microwave and had the same consistency). The Hawaiian chicken tasted like a frozen meal. The Drinks - Drinks were overly sugary (and this is coming from an American). Tasted like they put too much simple syrup in the batches. The drinks are the equivalent of college dive bar drinks that cost a few bucks, not €18+ cocktails. Far below the Trader Vic standards in the US and UAE. Service - Absolutely atrocious. Managed to get 3 cocktails (between 2 people) in almost 2 hrs there. Staff seemed like they wanted to avoid guests as others had the same problem. Staff also attempted to deliver incorrect food and beverages and could not understand that it was not for our table (we stated this multiple times in both English and German but the staff still seemed confused) My advice is to save your money and go to other bars. If you want Rum cocktails, take the 5 minute walk to Pussers which is 1000% better.

in the last weekService was good, but that’s about where the positives ended. The decor was nice but the music was depressing, and the food options sounded great, but the food was bland and lacked flavor. It’s no wonder we were the only two people in the restaurant at 7pm. All of the food was extremely hot, food temp was not an issue but everything came with a candle underneath it to keep it warm as it burned my mouth and fingers.I would’ve rather had good food and bad service. Don’t waste your money.

in the last weekI've been to Trader Vic's Munich twice now – both visits ranged from disappointing to disastrous. 1st visit (December 2024): Flat Prosecco, which, after a complaint, wasn't replaced but simply refilled. Cocktails were far below international Trader Vic's standards (Mai Tai with canned pineapple and giant plastic straws for over €16). Service was uninspired and inattentive. My written complaint to the hotel was only answered after repeated inquiries – with platitudes and no consequence. At least they promised me compensation in the form of cocktails on the house. 2nd visit (August 2025): This promise was also worthless. Neither the promised drinks nor the advertised "informed service" were available. Instead, the main course lacked side dishes, the food arrived only lukewarm, empty glasses were ignored, and plates were cleared away during the meal. Overall, it seemed as if they wanted to get rid of us quickly. Complaint management: Again, just empty phrases, no responses for weeks or only after follow-up, no real sense of responsibility. Alleged internal reasons or the "absence" of responsible persons are no explanation for broken promises. Conclusion: Substandard service, lousy complaint management, zero commitment. Absolutely unacceptable for a €€€€ restaurant in the Bayerischer Hof – and not comparable to Trader Vic's internationally.

a week agoI've enjoyed going to Trader Vic's for over 40 years. Everything was excellent again this time, and I'm pleased that the concept, ambiance, and quality of the food have remained very conservative over the years. Trader Vic's is more of an experience restaurant than a gourmet one; if you know and appreciate that, then you practically have a guarantee of satisfaction for yourself and your companions. I just find the prices a bit excessive these days.
